DKB Training delivers high quality learning and development in the education and training sector. We generate a positive impact for learners, providing continual professional development in partnership with organisations and individuals.
The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.
To ensure effective learning, all trainers/assessors need the following skills as a minimum:
- understanding and use of initial, formative and summative assessment
- planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning
- creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive teaching and learning environment
Our training courses will deliver these skills and much, much more.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE – FULL DET QUALIFICATION
Our programmes are blended learning which consists of a number of workshops which you must attend along with self research and the use of our VLE – Virtual Learning Environment. We do not deliver entirely distance learning, as the City & Guilds qualification specifications state: “Distance learning is unlikely to provide opportunities for modelling of techniques and interaction with other candidates.” We feel our blended programme delivers the best, high quality teacher learning possible.
This programme comprises training workshops, workplace observation, individual research, distance learning and the completion of assignments. Over a maximum of 2 years you will attend 13 highly interactive training sessions. They are built around key themes that address the course content, prompt reflective practice and provide an opportunity to share good practice with others. Individual support and distance learning is built into the programme. The course is assessed by 13 assignments, ongoing reflective journals and a teaching practice portfolio. You will have to evidence 100 hours of teaching and will be observed 8 times..
DET is the qualification for teachers/tutors and assessors who work in the Education and Training sector in a ‘full teaching’ role.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the full DET course including registration with the City & Guilds is from £3,000.00 plus V.A.T. Discounts available for multiple places reserved.
*Please note the final date for registration of learners, prior to the course being replaced by the DiT is 15th August 2024*
DET Extension (For Current CET Certificate Holders)
The Diploma in Education and training is to be phased out in September 2024, so this is your last chance to use your current CET certificate as recognised prior learning towards your Level 5 Diploma. This will be replaced by the Diploma in Teaching. DiT. As the name suggest this qualification will focus on teaching. As well as completing written assignments there will be additional requirements around, placement hours, virtual teaching and mentorship.
For some, these requirements may be challenging due to the operational requirements of your organisation. For this reason, we are offering the opportunity to register as a learner for the existing DET, rather than wait for the new qualification to be introduced.
The CET can be used as prior learning for the completion of the DET, (This is not the case for replacement DiT). Therefore, if you presently hold a CET (Certificate in Education and Training), this is your opportunity to use this to accelerate your prior learning and lead you on the path to qualified teacher status.
If you are looking for flexibility, a safe environment to learn and the peace of mind in knowing you are supported when you need it, our DET extension course and workshops will be just what you need. These workshops are a mixture of face to face and virtual learning workshops.
About the course
The DET extension programme comprises a total of 7 sessions over a 9-month period.
Students have a further 6-9 months to complete their programme and our support and guidance will continue as required.
How much does it cost?
