DKB Training delivers high quality learning and development in the education and training sector. We generate a positive impact for learners, providing continual professional development in partnership with organisations and individuals.
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an ‘in service’ qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment.
To ensure effective learning, all trainers/assessors need these skills as a minimum:
- understanding and use of initial, formative and summative assessment
- planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning
- creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive teaching and learning environment
Our training courses will deliver these skills and much, much more.
Programme Structure
Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to use initial and diagnostic assessments and plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning. They will also be able to assess learning and use appropriate resources to support effective learning. This is a first stage teaching qualification.
Our programmes are blended learning which consists of a number of workshops which you must attend along with self research and the use of our VLE – Virtual Learning Environment. We do not deliver entirely distance learning as the City & Guilds qualification specifications state: “Distance learning is unlikely to provide opportunities for modelling of techniques and interaction with other candidates.”
We feel our blended programme delivers the best, high quality teacher learning possible. This programme comprises training workshops, workplace assessment, individual research, distance learning and the completion of 6 assignments. Over 9 months you will attend 6 highly interactive training days. They are built around key themes that address the course content, prompt reflective practice and provide an opportunity to share good practice with others. Individual support and distance learning is built into the programme.
The course is assessed by 6 unit assignments, ongoing reflective journals and a teaching practice portfolio. You will have to evidence 30 hours of teaching and will be observed on 3 separate occasions (see below). Please refer to the course programme below for an overview of the course content and the way the course is structured. We can also take existing QCF qualifications you may have (e.g. TAQA Assessor units) and tailor the course around those qualifications for you. Please contact us directly to discuss this option.
